It all started in November 1999, when Francis, a gorgeous rescued Italian Greyhound joined the Pergament family. Without a wardrobe to call his own, they set out to find something appropriate for the handsome hound to wear. With very short hair and very little bodyfat, simply going nude was not an option. The search for stylish clothing was long…and seemingly impossible. Francis was forced to wear fleece and ill-fitting sweaters just to keep warm. 8 months later, Daphne a spunky Italian Greyhound with a passion for fashion was adopted. Not as patient as her mellow brother, Daphne looked miserable in fleece and the ill-fitting sweaters. And that’s when the realization finally set in for designer Jaimie Glasson Pergament.

A former model and fashion television executive, Pergament decided that the only way her dogs were going to look fashion-forward was if she designed the clothing herself, and thus Ruff Ruff Couture® was born. First as a line of limited edition vintage couture coats, the brand quickly expanded to include t-shirts and dresses. Now five years later, the Ruff Ruff Couture® brand is sold around the world and includes dresses, tanks, t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, coats, rain-slickers, sweaters, blankets, jewelry, bowls, toys and travel carriers. Inspired by the fashion runways from around the world and the many places she visits, Pergament continues to work hard to think of the next great must-have items for your pampered pooch.
